Griffith Observatory Sunrise Engagement Session | Dreamy LA Views & Golden Light
Erica and Darren met through Hinge in February 2020 and have been hitting it off ever since! They enjoy hiking, camping, outdoor adventures, and taking cute photos of each other. For their engagement shoot, they wanted a location that combined nature with white architecture to capture that post-sunset "purple hour" aesthetic. I immediately suggested Griffith Observatory, with its clean, minimal white architecture and amazing golden and purple hues during sunset. However, we had two concerns: the crowds during sunset (both weekdays and weekends) and the July heat. We ultimately decided to do their engagement session at Griffith Observatory during sunrise—and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made!
Why Sunrise at Griffith Observatory?
I highly recommend scheduling your engagement session at sunrise at Griffith Observatory. During summer months, the cool early morning temperatures create a peaceful atmosphere. The Observatory is wonderfully quiet at this time—you'll only encounter a few early morning joggers. This tranquil environment is perfect for capturing natural, romantic moments between couples. The soft, dreamy morning light creates a magical quality that sunset simply can't replicate. There's something special about sharing these intimate moments when the world is still waking up—every smile, glance, and interaction feels more authentic and meaningful. The location offers endless photo opportunities, from its iconic architecture to breathtaking views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. A sunrise session at Griffith Observatory creates an unforgettable experience and lasting memories. Why not make your engagement photos even more special by choosing this magical morning setting?
