Romantic Engagement Session at Los Angeles Arboretum | Arcadia, California
This engagement session at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia, California was the perfect setting for romantic and timeless couple portraits for Ella & Hermalindo. As a Los Angeles engagement photographer, I love capturing engagement photos at this beautiful garden location known for its lush greenery, scenic architecture, and peaceful walkways.
We started the engagement session at Forest Trail, a peaceful area surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees. The natural setting created a calm and intimate atmosphere, perfect for capturing candid moments between the couple. Next, we moved to the Bamboo Collection, which provides a unique backdrop with towering bamboo and beautiful light filtering through the leaves. The vertical lines and textures create an elegant and modern look for engagement portraits. The Rose Garden added a romantic touch to the session with its vibrant colors and classic garden atmosphere. This location is ideal for couples looking for timeless engagement photos in a floral setting. We continued to Meyberg Waterfall, where the flowing water created a beautiful and dynamic backdrop. The natural textures and movement added depth and visual interest to the engagement portraits. We ended the session at Queen Anne Cottage, one of the most recognizable landmarks at the Arboretum. The historic architecture provided a charming and elegant setting to conclude the shoot.
This engagement session took place in July starting at 3pm, and the summer heat was quite intense. We were all sweating throughout the shoot, which can make sessions more challenging. For the best experience, I recommend scheduling engagement sessions earlier in the morning during summer months for cooler temperatures and softer lighting. Winter is also a great time for engagement photos at the Arboretum, offering more comfortable weather and beautiful natural light.
Ella & Hermalindo also considered other garden locations such as Huntington Gardens, Arlington Garden, and Descanso Gardens. However, the photography permit prices at those venues are significantly higher. I always recommend the LA Arboretum for couples who want a garden or forest aesthetic. The photography permit is much more affordable at $75.00. For more information on purchasing a photo permit, you can visit their website.
